BBF case study - Gary Swanwick, Epoq IT

One of the founders of Epoq IT, Gary Swanwick, takes up the story. “We were established in 2002 but it was only three years ago that we decided to push for growth and that’s when it was recommended to us that we join Buckinghamshire Business First. We knew that networking would be key to any growth we were able to achieve but that’s a difficult thing for IT engineers who are used to sitting in dark room a lot of the time!”

After signing up for and attending Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) networking events, Epoq IT saw this approach quickly pay off. “The people you meet at the BBF networking events are fantastic and really keen to share their knowledge and experience. The advice we have received from other business owners at these events has really helped us grow – and this is why I have been keen ever since to return the favour and get involved in supporting the local business community.”

This commitment to the local business scene has resulted in bringing business back to the county. “We met The Four Group at several BBF events and struck up a relationship with them. At the time they were outsourcing their IT to London, but now we have signed a deal with them, which is not only great for us as it means more business, but is also great that they are keeping business local.”

Epoq IT are award winners to boot and Gary was impressed with the level of professionalism and organisation of the awards themselves: “We entered the Buckinghamshire Business Awards that BBF run and were delighted to win two awards – Small Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year, both in 2013. The awards are so well organised - and I’ve since entered more awards which has highlighted just how well organised we are in Buckinghamshire!”
