Are you searching for support for your business? Then this week was made for you!

From the UK-wide Export Week to a local Lovin’ Your High Street campaign, there’s no shortage of encouragement for businesses to prosper.

This week sees two distinct week-long series of events that, despite their differences, have the same cause at heart: supporting businesses.

Export Week is UK Trade & Investment’s (UKTI’s) twice yearly national campaign to show businesses the benefits of exporting and the support measures that exist for them to do so. To mark the official start of Export Week on Monday 18 May, Minister for Trade and Investment Francis Maude announced a programme of expert training and advice to help companies looking to sell overseas for the first time.

The First Time Exporters (FTE) initiative includes the opportunity to take part in trade missions to nearby markets to help businesses develop their first contacts with foreign buyers and encourages them to take advantage of digital opportunities, offering dedicated digital trade advisers and an online tool designed to assist their export planning.

If you missed out on the workshops, seminars and briefings during this Export Week, keep your eyes peeled for the next one in November 2015. In the meantime, whether you are looking to export for the first time or expand your current operation, talk to a UKTI Export Adviser today or book an appointment to see your local Export Expert at the Saunderton Hub on Friday 19th June.

On a local level, the importance of supporting our high streets is the focus of Mix 96’s Lovin’ Your High Street campaign. Mix 96’s Breakfast team have taken their show on the road this week to broadcast live from local independent high street shops.

We should all love and support our high streets for the diversity they bring to our towns and cities and the entrepreneurial spirit they embody. We should also support them to thrive and not simply survive in a world of chain stores and lazy consumer decision making.

There is support from the Government, whose Do More Online campaign was set up to help microbusinesses and sole traders find customers, spread word of mouth, be more efficient, and sell their goods and services online. Read about the ways your business could be more active online.
