As Buckinghamshire Business First gets baking in the name of charity, we ask…

We are delighted to announce that we raised £196.50 for MacMillan Cancer Research by holding a bake sale at our offices in Saunderton. The Buckinghamshire Business First and Ngage Solutions teams had a great time baking away – and then scoffing down the tasty treats all in the name of charity!

In the run-up to Christmas people’s minds often turn towards charity with many organisations choosing to make a charitable donation rather than sending out a raft of Christmas cards. Do you have a chosen charity that you regularly fundraise for? What activities do you get up to in order to raise money? For example, Buckinghamshire Business First members Seymour Taylor recently raised nearly £700 for Scannappeal, thanks to a charity bike ride through Buckinghamshire.

This all ties into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). An increasingly common aspect of businesses, CSR is the principle that businesses should not just be looking after their profits, but their communities too. By getting involved in community projects and supporting local charities and not-for-profit organisations, businesses tend to see improved staff satisfaction and a boost to how they are perceived by the public, amongst other benefits.

If you want to search for a charity or community group to support this year, visit the XChange Bucks website which provides details of the voluntary, community and charitable sectors in Buckinghamshire.
