Food and drink companies – Win a market insight trip to Milan

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) South East are inviting South East food & drink producers to take part in a competition to win a place on a 3-day Grown in Britain Market Insight Visit to Milan in May 2015, to coincide with Milan Expo 2015.

This visit represents an outstanding opportunity for South East companies to meet buyers, potential partners and business prospects from around the world. Expo Milano is a platform for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions on the theme of food & drink, stimulating each country’s creativity and promoting innovation for a sustainable future.

The winners of The Taste of the South East competition will win:

  • return flights and accommodation
  • evening networking reception
  • opportunity for one-to-ones and market briefings with our overseas experts
  • intensive support and guidance from a UKTI South East International Sector Adviser
  • admission to the Tutto Food exhibition
  • admission to the Expo Milano UK Pavilion.

To be eligible, your business must be:

  • based in the UK South East region (includes Buckinghamshire)
  • a small or medium-sized enterprise, making and selling food or drink products which originate from the UK
  • either a new exporter or an active exporter investigating new opportunities.

From micro-breweries and world-class sparkling wine to dairy-free chocolate and organic baby food, our region contains many innovative companies. Expo Milano will be a hub of international business, with over 140 participating countries and an expected 20 million visitors. I would encourage all small and medium-sized food & drink producers to apply for this competition to support their international growth.”

In partnership with UKTI, Buckinghamshire Business First is holding Meet the Expert sessions on exporting. These events will be held on the third Friday of each month, and you can talk to a expert from UKTI about:

  • Selecting the right export market for your business
  • Researching export markets
  • Development of an export action plan
  • Website adaption for overseas trade
  • Language and cultural considerations
  • Registering for overseas business opportunity alerts
  • Export skills training
  • Exhibiting successfully overseas
  • Help with commercialising IP overseas

Also present will be Enterprise Europe Network, who will talk about:

  • Receiving personal introductions to companies in 54 countries
  • Finding manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors and distributors
  • Browsing and promoting your products in a database of close to 7000 business opportunities
  • Participating in matchmaking events during large international trade fairs
