Funding and support to benefit businesses of all sizes

Last week the government announced a series of new measures to help budding entrepreneurs start and grow a business from home. The new measures include; legislation which will make it easier for people to run a business from a rented home, with a new model tenancy agreement available soon; updated planning guidance making it clear that in most cases, planning permission will not be required to run a business from home and new guidance that clarifies that in the majority of cases, home-based businesses will not pay business rates.

Figures from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) reveal that there are 2.9 million home-based business in the UK which in total contribute £300 billion to the economy, meaning that if just one in ten of those businesses took an one extra employee, it would create 290,000 jobs.
