Going for Gold in Buckinghamshire

‘Going for Gold’ will provide information on apprenticeships for young people, their parents and employers with the aim of increasing both the number of young people looking for apprenticeship opportunities and the number of employers offering opportunities in the county.

The Going for Gold (GFG) website will advertise all apprenticeship opportunities available with Buckinghamshire employers, enabling young people to easily find and apply for them.

All of our main Buckinghamshire training providers are part of the GFG initiative and have committed to providing a ‘gold standard’ service to Buckinghamshire employers which includes how they will work with you to promote your opportunity, screen and present applicants and train your apprentice.

In the Buckinghamshire Skills Study 2012, 76% of employers reported that their apprentices were well or very well prepared for work – through GFG we plan to see this figure increase as our local training providers implement their GFG gold standard and we see more work ready ‘gold standard’ young people actively applying for local apprenticeships.

We will let you know more about GFG as we get closer to the launch date and how you can be involved. In the meantime if you would like to know more about apprenticeships and how they can benefit you business visit the apprenticeship section of the Buckinghamshire Business First website or contact us on 01494 568944.

The Going for Gold initiative is being developed by a range of partners including county and district councils, training providers, careers education providers, Buckinghamshire Business First and Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership. Initial funding for GFG is being met by Aylesbury Vale District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, and BEST – a partnership between Buckinghamshire New University, Aylesbury College and Buckinghamshire University Technical College.
