Low Carbon Workspaces

Low Carbon Workspaces offers a match funded grant of up to £5,000 to SMEs to support the installation of energy efficiency measures which will reduce CO2 emissions such as LED lighting, insulation, double glazing and boiler replacement. The grant scheme has helped many businesses reduce their energy bills, including ABA Stronalva, who installed ceiling cavity insulation in their office and replaced single-glazed windows with double-glazing. The impact? “Well we’ve almost done away with the heating altogether,” says Kevin Dargue of ABA. “Receiving a Low Carbon Workspaces grant was definitely worthwhile and the support from the grant team ensured it was a smooth process from beginning to end with each step clearly laid out.”

Grants for Eco Innovation

Grants for Eco Innovation has been designed to help businesses that have a product or service that is environmentally friendly and ready for market. Grants of up to £3,000 are available to contribute towards activities including marketing campaigns, websites, attending exhibitions and marketing collateral. The project can also help SMEs ‘go green’ by offering grants to lessen their environmental impact.

Elizabeth Assaf, the co-owner of Urban Front who design and manufacture hardwood doors from their base in Chesham, applied to the Grants for Eco Innovation project to secure funding to attend a trade show in Denmark. Urban Front were soon the recipient of a £3,000 grant that helped to pay for the cost of the exhibition, as well as an advertising stand and the construction of one of their doors at the show itself.

“The application process was much easier than I could ever have expected,” says Elizabeth. “The Grants for Eco Innovation team were exceptional and always on hand to answer any queries I had. It was a quick process from start to finish, which is what every business needs. We simply wouldn’t have been able to attend the trade show if it wasn’t for Grants for Eco Innovation and I'd definitely recommend this grant to other businesses as it’s certainly one of the best ones I have come across.”

Velocity Growth Grants

Exclusively for businesses in Aylesbury Vale, Velocity Growth Grants are match-funded grants of up to £10,000 which support business's growth ambitions. The grant can be used for any expenditure that will support a business to create and safeguard jobs. This can include expenditure on sales and marketing, backroom systems, improving productivity, recruitment and expansion. Previous grant recipients include the National Entrepreneur of the Year, David Humpston, whose fledgling business, Viewpoint Videos, got a welcome boost. “The grant is a brilliant help,” says David, “especially at this early growth stage!”

Sustainable Routes

Although the Sustainable Routes scheme is not currently handing out new grants, we are rightly proud of the impact it has had. The £1,000 grants it has delivered to encourage reductions in transport related greenhouse gas emissions have had a big impact on CO2levels. As well as benefitting from an Eco Innovation Grant, Urban Front received £1,000 to help create an online marketing tool to showcase their doors, meaning they no longer have to travel the length and breadth of the country to do so. “The time, money and carbon emissions saved because of this are incredible,” says Elizabeth.
