HSBC launches £8 billion lending fund for SMEs

The package includes 18 months of fee-free business banking for start-ups, and 12 months for existing SMEs who switch, and the waiving of certain fees applied to business loans.

In what is described as HSBC’s most ambitious package of support yet for small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), £8 billion will be allocated for lending across the country.

Available immediately, the package also allows for security fees and arrangement fees on business loans between £1,000 and £25,000 to be waived or refunded until 31 July 2015, a move that could save borrowers hundreds of pounds. This is available to both HSBC customers and non-customers.

As well as this, start-ups will benefit from 18 months of fee-free business banking, while existing SMEs who switch to HSBC will receive 12 months of fee-free business banking.

Additionally, HSBC will host more than 300 workshops across the country over the next 12 months, aiming to reach and support 10,000 businesses with growth aspirations, whether they are start-ups or established firms.
