Buckinghamshire Business First is a partner of USEAct which is a project that aims to achieve sustainable urban development without the further consumption of land, whilst also reducing energy consumption and infrastructure costs. This is an important issue in Buckinghamshire as we have a need for new infrastructure projects but are also mindful of protecting our vast areas of greenbelt land.

Virtual Viewing specialise in creating computer generated visualisation tools to support inward investment and urban regeneration projects. These Smart visualisation tools will help to evaluate the benefits and risks associated with these alternative development scenarios being implemented in cities such as Naples who are looking to introduce bike-sharing schemes, reduce CO2 emissions and offer free Wi-Fi to all Neopolitan citizens and tourists.

USEAct is one of the projects of the URBACT programme, which is a European exchange and learning programme involving 29 countries and 7,000 active participants which promote sustainable urban development.  By engaging in these European projects local businesses get to showcase Buckinghamshire’s talented pool of businesses and learn from our European counterparts.

Closer to home, promoting sustainability and encouraging businesses to reduce their energy consumption is the focus of a number of grant schemes our members are encouraged to look at.  Visit our local grant funding page to find out more about Grants for Eco Innovation, Low Carbon Workspaces and Sustainable Routes.
