Should Aylesbury Vale District Council break away from Buckinghamshire?

Hear the views of the District and County Leaders, and then have your say on this vital issue.

The debate over whether Buckinghamshire’s local government structure needs changing has been reignited.

Yesterday, Aylesbury Vale District Councillor members voted in favour of proposals to investigate the benefits of breaking away to form a single unitary authority. The decision is welcome, as it allows the residents of Aylesbury Vale and those across Buckinghamshire an informed discussion on this important issue.

Aylesbury Vale District Council will now investigate the potential benefits of striking out on its own as a unitary authority, therefore leaving the remaining three District Councils and the County Council in Buckinghamshire behind.

Watch the new Bucks TV video with the leaders of Buckinghamshire County Council, Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils, and Guy Lachlan, Chair of the Buckinghamshire Business Group, discussing whether Buckinghamshire should change its current council structure.

In the video, Councillor Neil Blake, Leader of Aylesbury Vale District Council says that “no change is simply not an option.”
